Yoga for Children

Aged 8+

Why teach yoga to children?

It seems that in today’s world, children are bombarded by outside stimuli & their mental health is being affected. Some children have lost touch with how to play in nature and to be happy with what they have.

Yoga is not a religion or a competitive sport, it is a practise of self-enquiry. For children it will teach them to focus, build their self-esteem, improve strength and flexibility. Yoga has been proven to help to improve physical and mental health.

The class is a mix of energetic jumping into postures, sun salutations, holding postures using counts, balances and relaxation.

About me

My name is Claire and I have two 9-year-old boys. I have taught them yoga on and off over the years in bite size spontaneous moments and only recently have I taught them half hour classes. They were lucky enough to join a children’s yoga class via zoom led by an Indian teacher from the RIMYI in Pune, India. I too have learned lots from observing these classes.

In the past, I have taught dance and movement with KS1at a Primary school in London. I have also spent three years teaching Body Awareness/Yoga to teenagers and young adults at Webber Douglas Drama School in London.

I am DBS checked and have been teaching adults for over 20 years

I am very keen to start up a new class for children aged eight years old and up in the local area. Do let me know if you are interested. I am currently teaching yoga for children as an after school club in Easebourne.
